This author is blessed to be spending time with family and loved ones this holiday season, and is reminded, as always, that the people in our lives are a profound gift. Weekly performance: The S&P 500 gained 0.32%. Gold was up 0.13%. Silver lost 1.95%, platinum added 2.79%, and palladium was crushed by 9.68%. The HUI gold miners index was down 1.86%. The IFRA iShares US Infrastructure ETF was flat. Energy commodities were volatile and mixed on the week. WTI crude oil was down 2.6%, while natural gas was up 2.24%. The CRB Commodity Index was off 1.04%, and copper was down 0.26%. The Dow Jones US Specialty Real Estate Investment Trust Index was up 0.76%. The Vanguard Utilities ETF was up 1.01%. The dollar index was off 0.31% to close the week at 101.03. The yield on the 10-yr U.S. Treasury lost 2 bps to end the week at 3.88%.
