Weekly performance: The S&P 500 surged 2.29%. Gold gained 2.68%, silver was up 0.32%, platinum was higher by 2.53%, and palladium was up 2.32%. The HUI gold miners index popped by 7.23%. The IFRA iShares US Infrastructure ETF gained 2.34%. Energy commodities were volatile and mixed on the week. WTI crude oil ended up 3.15%, while natural gas lost 2.87%. The CRB Commodity Index was up 1.59%. Copper was flat. The Dow Jones US Specialty Real Estate Investment Trust Index was up 2.74%. The Vanguard Utilities ETF was up 2.83%. The dollar index was up 0.36% to close the week at 104.56. The yield on the 10-yr U.S. Treasury lost 2 bps to close at 4.20%.
