Tying the Knot
They say love conquers all. As an expression of the truth of that statement, there is no new HAI this week. However, the lack of a new missive is for a very good cause. This author is officially tying the knot with his beloved bride this weekend. Miracles, it seems, really can and do happen! HAI hopes every reader has as wonderful a weekend as this author is having, and sends many grateful thanks to all readers!
Weekly performance: The S&P 500 lost 0.26%. Gold gained 4.28%, silver was up 5.09%, platinum was up 3.02%, and palladium gained 6.52%. The HUI gold miners index jumped 8.50%. The IFRA iShares US Infrastructure ETF was up 2.07%. Energy commodities were volatile and lower on the week. WTI crude oil was off 2.45%, while natural gas lost 1.63%. The CRB Commodity Index was nearly flat, lower by 0.18%. Copper gained 0.80%. The Dow Jones US Specialty Real Estate Investment Trust Index was up 1.64%. The Vanguard Utilities ETF was up 3.39%. The dollar index was down 1.07% to close the week at 102.69. The yield on the 10-yr U.S. Treasury lost 10 bps to close at 4.09%.
